Project Overview
Uttishtha Earthquake and Structural Engineers provided structural engineering consultancy services to dmg events for India Energy Week in Goa, supporting the delivery of temporary event infrastructure for one of India’s leading international energy exhibitions and conferences.
India Energy Week brings together energy-sector leaders, policymakers, technology providers, exhibitors, and international delegates. The scale and time-critical nature of the event required structural solutions that could be designed, coordinated, fabricated, erected, inspected, and modified within a demanding event programme.
Our role focused on providing practical, responsive, and technically robust structural engineering solutions for temporary event structures and associated installations.
Structural Engineering Scope
Our services included the structural engineering and technical assessment of temporary event structures and installations, including:
- Structural analysis and design of temporary event structures
- Engineering of exhibition and event structures, support systems, and associated installations
- Assessment of gravity, wind, lateral, and stability requirements
- Design and verification of steel framing and temporary structural systems
- Assessment of structural connections, supports, bracing, and anchorage arrangements
- Review of structural systems for temporary and repeated loading conditions
- Technical review of fabrication and erection proposals
- Structural review of architectural and event design packages
- Coordination with event designers, fabricators, contractors, and specialist suppliers
- Review and resolution of structural issues arising during fabrication and site installation
- Site-based engineering support and technical inspections
- Assessment and approval of structural modifications required during installation
- Preparation and review of structural calculations, drawings, technical submissions, and engineering documentation
Engineering for a Time-Critical Environment
Temporary event structures present a fundamentally different engineering challenge from permanent buildings. Design decisions must account not only for structural strength and stability, but also for rapid fabrication, transportation, erection, dismantling, site constraints, changing architectural requirements, and compressed project programmes.
For India Energy Week, our engineering approach therefore emphasised speed, technical rigour, constructability, and responsiveness.
Structural solutions were developed in close coordination with the event delivery team, enabling engineering decisions to be integrated into the fast-moving design and construction process while maintaining appropriate levels of structural safety and technical assurance.
Technical Coordination
A key component of our role was multidisciplinary coordination.
We worked with the wider project team to resolve interfaces between event architecture, exhibition systems, structural framing, branding and signage, lighting, MEP installations, and temporary works.
Particular attention was given to identifying potential structural issues early and providing practical solutions that could be implemented without compromising the event programme.
Value Delivered
Our involvement provided independent structural engineering expertise and technical assurance throughout the delivery of the event infrastructure.
By combining structural analysis with practical construction knowledge and responsive site support, we helped the project team manage the structural challenges associated with a large-scale temporary event environment.
The project demonstrates our capability in delivering structural engineering services for major events, where safety, speed, constructability, multidisciplinary coordination, and programme certainty are equally critical.
